Yet Another GREAT offering from TOZO, one of my go-to brands in Bluetooth audio
Update 2: just to verify the first update after i thought i had charged the speaker wrong and MAYBE the battery life was better... well i'd ROUGHLY say that I am still seeing 10 to 15 hours at best and that is at a low volume.A) I still love this speaker even though i wish the battery life was better (maybe a firmware update... i have the newest one now) would help? ... B) if you compare the size/shape to say the well known JBL Clip 4 and JBL Clip 5 and THEIR advertised battery life ... this speaker's battery life from what I have experienced is at LEAST "on pair" with those two well known option ... MAYBE a tad (my a hour or so) BETTER.I still love and recommend this speaker ... just dont expect 32hours or somewhere like ... oh say 29 hours....if you can get past that and know other well known speakers just like this have a similar battery life but ... they cost MORE ... this is a great option--------------------------------------Update: not sure what happened to my update from 2 days ago, but I will redo it and add to itI have to say I love this little speaker, except for one catch ... I love TOZO but I have to be honest in my review ... I am not monitoring this 100% but i know i am not getting near 32hours of battery life as advertised. I DO KNOW the advertised battery life on products like this are in "perfect conditions" and say with 32hours advertised... about say oh 27 or 28 hours and i'd be happy.I am getting far less ... I do admit I am guest-a-mating this but I'd say between 10 and 15 maybe a tad higher. I am ok with that but the advertised battery life at least in mine being so much higher than what I am seeing, may have others upset when it's not close to 32hours for them. Also I still say the sound and even battery life "punches in the weight class" (boxing reference) of the Tribit Stormbox Micro 2 which I mentioned in my update that didn't post but ... something occurred to me ... while I have never had one of these ... I looked up specs and (I already knew the look was similar) looks of the well known JBL Clip 4 and 5 (a 6th out?) .... battery life the JBL Clip series is a better comparison than the Stormbox Mini 2 (which is one of my new favorites, so the comparison is a compliment to this TOZO PE1)..... the thing is even with JBL clips on sale ... I am seeing say a $10 difference in this TOZO speaker with it being a lower price than the JBL speakers... AND at the time of me typing this there is a $5 off amazon coupon on this TOZO .. .for $15 to $20 cheaper ... price wise alone this is a better option than the JBL Clip series. I know the "clip" part IS different but it's sort of the same design. If you are considering a JBL Clip speaker, at least seriously consider trying this TOZO PE1 ... everything about it is great and if you ignore the battery life as "up to 32hours" and compare this to the clip 4 or 5 "8 to 12 hours" .. you are getting a really good speaker from a brand that has never let me down (and I have A NUMBER of TOZO products) and at a bit of a cheaper price.TOZO always gives great "bang-for-buck"-------------------------------------------Original Review:I will open this by saying that while I have had and used this speaker for a few days, this is SORT OF still a first impressions review. I am NOT foreseeing things to change in a negative direction with more experience, however. … THAT should be a preview to this review.I admit with the hook, I can speak on that but I just saw this new TOZO Speaker at a great price and bought it. How it may or may not “bang around” say attached to parts of a bike when going for a ride (for example) .. I cant speak on.---------First Thoughts:While if you don’t count the size including the buckle/loop part I thought it was smaller than one of my new favorite speaker, Tribit’s Stormbox Micro 2 (I do not have the original). Holding the main part of the speaker up to the Stormbox Micro 2, yes it is smaller but not that much of difference. From what I remember the part from the back to the front is ABOUT a similar size, but say if you are looking at them head-on .. the PE1 is a tad smaller.Build Quality, is what I expect from TOZO or Tribit (two of my go-to brands) .. the loop part doesn’t feel cheap or anything like that, but saying “this feels like the best loop/buckle/whatever I have ever felt” would be hamming it up. It feels study as I would expect from TOZO is what I am trying to say.Sound:I have to admit I have NOT tried to pair this with the app yet and while I am sure I could tweak the sound… like SOME TOZO products with app/EQ support .. there is a problem … it sounds so good “out of the box” , there is no need to tweak anything in MY view … but if you want to, it’s an option.I think everything sounds just right (note: this is my first TOZO speaker, though among other brands, I have a NUMBER of Tribit’s speakers) … It has good balance and a good kick to the bass, without being all messy sounding. Maybe if you want (though this is where the app EQ may help) “OVER THE TOP,” super bass… maybe this isn’t the speaker for you. I like good bass that doesn’t muddy things up. The mids and highs sound great too.Volume:Sometimes like to use these speakers later at night where I don’t want thing loud but in the background. I think a few speakers I have are good at fine-grain adjusting the volume (not saying I have an issue with the others really). The Onntz Angle 3 Ultra is one … the Tribit Stormbox Micro 2 is another … and now this speaker is on that list too. I can even get it so low I have to hold it to my ears to hear it and when I do that (I only tried that for what I am about to bring up) I do NOT hear any cutouts on lower volume parts of tracks … say Classical music. Sometimes some speakers can “pop” a little bit and then come back when audio picks up .. THEY ARE NOT disconnecting, but they sometimes do have a distracting sound when they do that.I bring all of that up to say I have two of Tribit’s new speaker, the Stormbox Mini… and they both do that. Not to get off topic, but that only happens (the popping/”cut out” issue) to the Stormbox Mini at the “lowest click” of volume .. anything else and there is NO ISSUE and for the record I have two Stormbox Mini’s because I love that speaker too. I just wanted to bring all this up to say the PE1 doesn’t have any issue with that or just regular disconnections in the first place.Battery LifeI just got this speaker and I haven’t charged things up, but things seem great so far.App SupportAs I said I haven’t even tried to pair this with the app YET but it speakers to how great this speaker is when I love it even without having all of the advantages that App Support gives you.--------------------------------------I am not really sure what else to say at this time .. I love this speaker even (say with the hook/loop) if I may not use it in the way it was intended … being meant to be used to hook to something for “active” people. As a fan of Tribit, TOZO, (and Earfun) products as my go-to brands, and loving many of Tribit’s offerings … I love and recommend TOZO’s PE1 speaker too.
