Q: How is this better than the garmin cup?

I can’t say it’s better. I purchased it and it’s not holding my Garmin very well at all. If I run over bumps or potholes, my Garmin literally falls off of it every time. But that’s just experience I’m having with it.

Q: Will this work on a Garmin RV 890?

Should work if your socket is 17.2 mm on back of GPS. I’m pretty sure it is. The arm is kinda short, about 3”. Amazon has some with longer arms and some are adjustable.

Q: Will this work on a Nuvi 265w?

According to the "Broad Compatibility" section yes. It will fit your Nuvi 265w.
