Plug it in and nothing happens!
Plug it in and nothing happens! The review could end right there but I want to specify, I'm connecting from an older model of iHome clock to my current iPhone to recharge the phone during the night. Both of those devices still work with my older adapter cable. I was just buying a spare, like a good Boy Scout. You know, "Be Prepared!" is the Boy Scout motto. That old cable is about a 1/4" in diameter. This new one is so thin it's hard to imagine wire any bigger than a bread tie inside. I suspect it might string in there, rather than something that can conduct electricity. When I connect it, my iPhone doesn't even acknowledge it's there by showing the Lightning Bolt recharging icon. I'll probably return it and try and get a refund, but I'm tempted to dissect it and see if the "cable" actually includes any wire.

It fixes an annoying problem so far
I like to have a case on my iPod and this will let me hook it up with my home sound system and not have to take the case off of my newer iPod Touch. So far so good.

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE
I was in a rush and didn't read the reviews -- so that's my fault. I needed this to connect my phone to my older car stereo adapter. Previously had the genuine (expensive) Apple brand, which worked perfectly for five years, but it finally is worn out from being plugged in multiple times daily. I've seen dental floss that is heavier gauge than this new adapter cord. I pretty much knew what to expect when I opened the package and saw this cheap piece of crap -- and I was right. The adapter does not allow the stereo to recognize the phone. The phone did begin charging, but I didn't wait around for the fishing-line thin cable to heat up and short out. I just found the Apple brand, and will bite the bullet and pay the $50 to get something that works.

Works great
I use this to connect a newer iPhone 12 to an older stereo that only has an old-style 30-pin connector for an old iPod. It works great - charges the phone at the same time as playing my music.

Doesn’t work
I don’t know if the cable doesn’t work or if the stereo doesn’t accept this cable.

Does Not Support MIDI Controllers
When I was using an iPad 2, I mainly used it for making music. I had bought a Yamaha 30 Pin midi adapter that allowed me to connect a midi enabled keyboard into the iPad and use the keyboard to control apps on the iPad (DM1 Drum Machine by Finger lab, and the AniMoog Synthesizer app by Moog). I recently acquired an iPad Mini and was hoping that this connector would allow me to still use the 30 Pin Yamaha adapter that I had been using. Unfortunately that was not the case and the iPad did not recognize any devices when trying to connect to the same apps.As for build quality, it's made of a rather flimsy piece of plastic and you should be careful when connecting and disconnecting devices to and from the 30 pin end.
