Works better for taming my beard than any oil, balm, wax, conditioner or other cosmetic product
I have struggled (and spent a small fortune!) trying to find products to effectively tame my beard, since I stopped shaving/trimming it as a mourning ritual after my mother died. I put off trying one of these various heated straightening combs for a long time, because of the very limited number of mixed reviews. Now that I have, figured I'd try providing a detailed to review to help my bearded brethren who are similarly left uncertain. The first pic is my beard in its natural state, right out of the shower, combed, but nothing else. As you can see, the hairs are coarse, curly and altogether, fairly wild.I tried a *lot* of oils, balms, waxes, conditioners, etc. Many smelled so strong I had to toss them after one try. And the rest helped just minimally. I've ended up just using a little bit of the leave-in conditioner and Jack Black texture cream that I use for my hair, and then a small amount of Honest Amish Heavy-Duty beard balm, which I use primarily use to get a little (and it's just a little -- and fairly short-lived) control of my sideburns. Pics 2 and 3 are after applying those products. The final two pics are after using the heated straightening comb. Don't expect a miracle, but it is actually quite a significant difference in the wildness of my beard in real life (perhaps more than it appears in the photos) -- and it'll last all day (and even overnight) as long as it doesn't get wet. And not that it feels like brillo beforehand (even if it looks like it!), but it feels pretty soft afterward.(Alas, my wife still hates it and wants me to shave. Lol.)The comb is easy to use. I've been using it on its hottest setting (450F). I don't think there's any risk of burning yourself -- or at least not unless you were trying really hard to do so. Several times I will comb my beard from underneath, so that it is sticking out, and then comb it back down from the top. When combing from underneath, I use the glove on my other hand to hold my beard so that the hair ends go fully through the heated area of the comb. You will probably want to make sure you're using some kind of oil/balm/conditioner regularly, since heat is damaging.A number of reviewers complain about the teeth of these combs being too long and too far apart. I understand the thought, but unless you have a really sparse beard, they're not too far apart. (My sideburn growth is actually not very thick, but it still works for me.)Length is another thing. You will need some decent length to get benefit from this. My beard hairs are close to 4 inches long. I'd guess you will probably need at least about 2.5 inch hairs (perhaps less, but not by much) for this to be effective. This unit feels fairly solid. There are several units with other branding that look identical to it, here on Amazon. I'd bet they are all just white label versions of the same device. Then there are others that don't look identical, but appear very similar. My sense is that if the reviews tell you it is a well made unit generally, probably all of them will be similar, and I'd tend to just get whichever one is least expensive at the time.Hope this was helpful, and good luck!

Fast and easy to use!
I got this brush because I was hoping to shorten the time it takes to get ready in the morning. I normally use a flat iron to style my hair. My hair is cut in an inverted bob and the back is very short. This works great on the longer parts of my hair and is great for adding some extra lift at the roots but wasn’t so great for the shorter back. I wasn’t able to get the heated part into my shorter hair because the hair is just too short. My daughter who has very kinky curly thick hair loves this brush for straightening her hair. It takes her half the amount of time to straighten it using this brush than it did using a flat iron. She is able to brush thru her hair and straighten it quickly and easily. My sons also like it for a quick tool to tame their hair and give it body.I will probably end up buying them each their own.It comes with the heat resistant glove. The handle does not get hot, the glove is for your opposite hand so you don’t burn yourself. Only one of my teens even bothers with using it.It also comes with 2 clips and a velvet bag to store it.All in all it’s a great straightener for longer hair.

Great buy, easy to use!
Never had a straightening brush before but i love this one. It leaves my hair so shiny and straight. Anybody who knows how to use a brush can use this product! The glove included is great, no more burning your hand when your straightening. It comes with a cute box to store it in. Definitely happy with my purchase! If you want straight, shiny hair with having to spend an hour blow drying and straightening, then i suggest you buy this brush!

Works, but with some flaws
I love the idea of this product and for the most part is a great hot tool to have in your collection. So why only 3 stars? Two reasons. 1. The control buttons are on the handle where you instinctually place your hands during use so I'm frequently, and unintentionally, changing the heat settings during use. 2. This thing beeps, and I mean BEEPS. It's alarming and it beeps every time you push a button. So yeah, when I'm accidently changing the heat due to the poorly placed control buttons, it's beeping in my ear. Now if it was just me the beeping wouldn't a big deal, however this beeps so loudly that it wakes my husband who is a dead sleeper, at the other end of the hall, through 2 closed doors. On the days I'm up before my husband I won't use this tool, meaning I only find it useful about 25% of the time. Move the buttons and add the option to turn off the sound and this could be the only hot tool I use.

Great for coarse beards!
I thought it would be too big for a beard as the only ppl I saw using it for a beard were those with beards up to their chest. But it worked surprisingly well with my beard (2-3inches). It is extremely easy to use with temperature ranges from 300-450F. I’ve only used 300&340 so far as that’s all I need for my beard. My beard is extremely coarse (like pubic hair coarse!) and even using a boar brush, wooden comb and a hairdryer after a shower wasn’t enough when it started growing past 3 inches. It took just a few slow strokes to straighten my beard out and I was even able to see where my beard is uneven from. I even straightened my beard prior to trimming for a better cut. This brush is 120/240V compatible as well which I didn’t know until I read it on the box so major plus cuz u can travel with it. The brush beeps when it’s plugged it, unplugged, set temperature has been reached. It has a funny smell to it when it’s hot but you get used to it. The heat didn’t burn my cheeks or neck either. I used it cautiously nonetheless but it’s pretty safe. Good investment. I haven’t tried using it with beard balm but I have used it with beard oil.

Great straightener when have chronic pain
I suffer from chronic pain due to 2 types of arthritis and fibromyalgia. Using a straightening iron has been really difficult. Causes more pain. This brush however straightened my hair in no time. Didn't cause more pain either. I am so happy. Highly recommend this brush.

Does the job
I have slightly wavy hair - it definitely does not straighten like my straightener but it does smooth it out. It’s ok. My hot air brush works better.
