DEPEPE Media Filter Bags Reusable Fine Mesh Drawstring Bags

Ordered the DEPEPE 5 pcs. fine media filter bags to try in my aquarium. I have used Boyd Chemi-Bags, Seachem "The Bag", and many more. My favorite before now has been the "The Bag" because it is durable and I use purigen which is very fine. So I just use it for every media but man are they expensive at over $8 each. Well I'm happy I gave the DEPEPE fine bags a try because they are the same micron mesh as the "The Bag" and only $1.66 each. There are differences. The Bag has welded seams whereas these have double sewn seams. The Bag has a substantial locking band to close it whereas this one has a draw string I wrap around the end and knot it close. I have attached a couple photos so you can see the seachem bag, retail package and locking band on the left side while this bag is on the right hand side. I took a close up of the draw string and double sewn seam so you could see it is well done. Personally I like them better, they hold purigen perfectly and they hold Rowa Phos perfectly so now I use them on everything. You really should give them a try.

Very fine mesh but still good flow, which is good. Only three stars bc they're very delicate and the mesh gets ruined very easily.

Fine enough to use with my Purigen. Maybe it's just me, but I just don't like the drawstring. I can't get it down tight enough for my media to not leak out. I ended up using another piece if string to choke it off. Not their fault, I knew it was drawstring, but still.

These bags are great for Seachem purigen. The only problem I have with them is that they are too big for my 5 and 3.5 gallon tanks. I wish I would have looked at the sizing more. My problem is not with the quality of the product so I can not give it less stars than it deserves. None of my purigen have escape the bags and so far I have crystal clear water.

I really wanted to like these as they are about 1/2 price of Fluval originals.If you look at pictures of comparison (Fluval at bottom) Fluval is far more dense/smaller holes - thus catching much more waste.Worth the try I guess - but I'm going with originals going forward.Rinse well and they can last a year - $20+/- for 6 Fluval originals over a year?!?!?!I bought FX-6 not to be cheap, but to have crystal clear water.

They seem decent enough but they are smaller than advertised. The ones I recieved were closer to 14cm/5.5in x 17.5cm/7in. If I were using these for filter media, I wouldn't have minded but since I'm planning on using these for another purpose, it matters greatly.

Great product, just as described. The mesh is fine enough that no carbon, or phosphate beads, or anything else larger than a powder is getting out. Exactly what we needed.
