You Cannot Tell The Difference
I purchased this dummy camera for a customer where I installed a 4 channel camera system with hard disk and DVD recorder a couple of years ago, he wanted to expand the system to cover an external area that was not covered by his system. Unfortunately I could not expand the system that he had without the use of a dual multiplexer to double up on one of the 4 channels that he was already using also there was a problems with getting the cables from the camera to the main hard disk system, so I suggested fitting a dummy camera as the system that he had was adequate, but with it being a couple of years old the camera's were not a modern design as they are today.I printed off a copy of the camera and showed it to my customer as this camera was almost a perfect match for his 4 original camera's, the only real difference was the trade decals and names on the side of the camera. He decided to go ahead and once I had fitted it he was simply delighted, as you cannot tell the difference from the real thing.I must say from my own point of view that the quality of this camera is excellent when you consider the price, the battery compartment and the whole housing is excellent, it does really look the part and for a fraction of the price of a real camera installation. The LED makes it more credible when you see it flashing, a good tip is if you are fitting one of these camera's don't scrimp on the battery, always fit a good quality Duracell or similar high quality battery because you will get a minimum of 2 years or more out of a type C cell. This fake camera is excellent value for money and the quality is spot on, in fact the quality is as good if not better than a real operational camera. I would recommend this Byron- CS11D Dummy CCTV camera unit to anyone wishing to improve security around their house without spending a lot of money on a full blow camera system or as my customer decided to do and add to an already working system, this represents very good value for money.

Update
Just wanted to do an update. This camera for the price is such good value looks realistic. Really strong I lived in Spain when I put this up in 2014. When I returned to UK it still looked as good as when I put it up. Bearing in mind we had a Sth facing garden and it was in the direct heat for many hours a day. I mean 40 Deg heat at times. The outer casing is metal which most others are pladtic. So worth every penny highly recommend. Well done to the makers a good product.

Byron dummy cctv camera
Camera well made solid and looks the part, But access to camera to install battery very difficult , four tiny cross head screws very difficult to get out , one not put in properly and cross threaded, needed snipe nose plyers to get it out..my neighbour who had one of the two cameras ordered found he had the same problems, all for the sake of some better quality well fitted screws..

perfect...
great design, great piece of kit.before installing i dismantled an put in a battery the led flashes and works fine, at night will be a great deterrant.using a masonary drill bit it does not take long to install, i used different raw plugs with bulky edges and slightly bigger black screws as it was for outside on brickwork, the only decent drill bit i had was a little too large for the plugs so i wrapped a little tape round them, pushed them in which created enough grip for the screws,i installed it high enough so someone can not reach it to spray the dummy camera lense with paint or bash its angleafter getting the up n down an left an right angles correct, i noticed the led had stopped working (if its going to happen to anyone it will be me lol) i unscrewed the four small screws tipped the camera down, then removed the case which allows you easy access to the battery compartment, i removed one screw slid the cover to one side & removed the battery, then i pulled the spring 3 times stretching it each time with a little bit more force, then put the battery back in, this fixed it!it looks real, the cable wiring is a nice touch and is firmly in place, great piece of kit would highly recommend.

Absolutely perfect for DIY projects!
Here's the review I would have wanted for this product:PROS:+ Thick, robust metal enclosure, with a tinted glass window up front to protect the lens.+ Even the wire doesn't feel hollow or fake. You'd never know. You can shorten or replace it too.+ Completely adjustable mount, camera can turn 360 degrees, up and down. Tighten the screws to lock in place.+ Very easy to take apart - the top cover is simply held down by 4 philips screws.+ You can remove individual components, to make it completely hollow. No pillars or mounts to work around.+ An arduino fits perfectly inside (unfortunately a standard pi would not).+ The default mount is removable, I've swapped mine for a servo base.CONS:- It's a very heavy unit, so make sure you attach it to the wall well (cheap servos will struggle).- The picture makes it look larger than it is. It's still a very decent size, but it's definitely smaller than I expected.- The lens is a plastic dome. You'd need to either cut a hole in it, or replace the entire front assembly (if you wanted a camera to see out).- Due to the thickness of the wall mount, you'd really struggle to cut a hole in it (for modding purposes).By the way, I'd recommend NOT reading the answers to any of the questions people are asking above. Most answers are wrong.

Bargain!!!
I bought this product after a failed attempt of a break-in at my home. After having new locks and house alarm fitted - this seemed a great additional measure.Just to echo some of the other reviews. This item is a bargain and looks like the real deal. On opening package I actually thought they sent me a real camera by mistake. The weight and build quality of this product is fantastic and I love the added touch of the flashing LED light, and electric cable - really does look like its recording. It's so easy to fit - just drill four holes and us the wall plugs and screws provided. Mine was fitted in 10mins - and am rubbish at DIY.
