You get what you pay for!
Top "Critical Review" is one word and three exclamation points "Expensive!!!" Please, give me a break! This is a beautiful clean, first rate product. Roasted, cooks beautifully, does not stick or turn to mush. Tastes heavenly.... and it's Ukrainian. You can get 50% more buying Russian - go knock yourself out. We re-fry the leftovers, tastes even better the next day!

Tastes just like grandma used to make
Nothing wrong with Wolffs buckwheat, which i used to buy occasionally. However, i find Zhmenka doesn't get mushy during cooking, tastes better, and the grains are a little smaller, which to me simply look and feel nicer. And i feel better supporting Ukraine's fragile economy. Supply seems spotty - i bought a bag 9 months ago, brand disappeared soon after, reappeared, and now it's again unavailable. I guess you need to keep checking or sign up for email alerts.

Over all good.
I love the quantity and that it's roasted.Every once in awhile I get one really bitter groat. I'd love to know how to find them and weed them out.Other than that, it's a great value.

Politically correct kasha Varnishkes
Not only was this Kasha flavorful and solid and toast for kasha Varnishkes it supports Ukraine and not Putin. I am not Ukranian for the record but on looking over the Russian buckwheat comments half of them knock American buckwheat which I like as well. I say do not buy from Trolls and this stuff for the taste alone is excellent. As the great Bob Dylan said "you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows"

Very bad quality
I didn’t like it at all. Tastes stale old and very small. I don’t recommend it, buy Russian Brand it’s a lot better quality and tastes fresh, like real roasted buckwheat.

This cooks perfectly in a rice cooker.
I made the groats to go with some Gigante beans and a stir-fry. I cooked it on “brown rice” setting in my rice cooker. Turned out PERFECT! I’m a huge fan.
