Mastering Portrait Photography Paperback – April 1, 2016

This is a very concise yet detailed book on portraits photography. It could easily be a text book! It’s very easy to read, with wonderful examples! It covers everything from gear, natural and studio lighting location, posing, to how to shoot different clientele, composition, camera angles, and how to flatter any type of subject. Its very well laid out and easy to reference to. This is a must of you are looking at getting started in portrait photography or to take your portrait photography to the next level.

This is a fantastic book on portrait photography. It is very well written and organized. I really enjoyed it. It has an excellent balance of technical ans artistic topics. It is very entertaining and the sample images are fantastic. I really improved my portrait photography with this book!

Got the book and read through it the same day. It's easy to read and understand, the author did a good job of explaining the practices and providing examples. If you're a pro this isn't a book for you but for the novice looking at trying something new I highly recommend.

I would have given this book five stars if there were more people of color included - especially if they had been included in the group shots. I understand the challenges of shooting a group with mixed skin tones, but that’s real life. Disappointed from that aspect, otherwise recommended.

Selected this book for my text in my college portrait class. It provides both illustration and well written text in all aspects of creating portraits. I feel it will not only contribute to the students success but also become a resource they can reference in the future. Well written and illustrated from equipment necessary to the nuances of posing and body language with focus on the most important aspect, lighting.
