Four and a half stars.
And only because I'm greedy and wanted more. Radclyffe continues to excel with great characters, quality research and hot romance. Not all writers can make walking upstairs into quality fore play! This is a police procedural, written from the POV of the Medical Examiner, as Olivia shows newcomer Jay around the system. Jay has been forced into a new career path after a devastating injury forcibly retired her from being a surgeon. Fans of the brilliant 'Justice' series will be thrilled to find a whole host of familiar characters get an outing as the M.E.'s find themselves picking up the pieces of a turf war between the Zamora crime syndicate and the Salvadoran 'new kids on the block'. Hopefully this will be an entree into a combined services storyline for the Justice team. The romance between Olivia and Jay clearly has room for further development, as does the evidence chain. (The inconclusive thread of finding the distributors of the new killer drug on the streets is the reason I deducted a half-star from the rating). Radclyffe is always worth a read.If you like this, try Lori Lake's 'gun shy' series, McLeods 'Actual Stop', D.L.Line has some quirky investigators and for a darker style of f/f crime try R.E. Bradshaw and her FBI profiler Rainey Bell.

Venturing into the science of death - brilliantly done. Romance is ok too!
A new foray for Radclyffe into the world of medical examiners- i.e. The morgue. I thought the descriptions of death scene science and practice were totally compelling - always the medical world is where Radclyffe is at her best. The romance is of course the other reason one loves a new Radclyffe. Old friends from "Justice" return as police departments and doctors and MEs team up. I hope this is the start of a new sequence of crime/medico thrillers.Excellent.

Great story
This was a great story, as you always get from Radclyffe. These characters would make a great series. It was good to see some of the familiar faces from the justice series.

Fantastic!
At last! I haven’t found her past couple of books that good to be honest, but this was like the old stuff and I love it and couldn’t put it down. Really enjoyed it.

Good one
I like nearly all books from Radclyffe but most I love the ones where she writes what she knows best: all medical. As a retired surgeon Radclyffe writes about doctors best in my opinion. And I love to read about doctors and their lovelife. A nice read for an afternoon or at the beach etc...

Riveting!
Radclyffe never disappoints. Solid story, with strong characters. It's great that characters from previous stories made it to this one, linking the series really well. Can't wait for the next one.

Not a strong storyline.
More than a little disappointing and boring. Too many characters from previous books and not a strong storyline.

I love Radclyffe but...
So I love Radclyffe's books. Fated Love is my favorite romance of all time, The Midnight Hunt series I can read over and over, The Honor series is fantastic. But something has changed in the last few books including this one and like others have noted on previous reviews, things just aren't the same anymore.First off, you will really need to read and enjoy the Justice series to like this book. It wasn't my favorite series by any means so I found myself completely bored when the story of Olivia and Jay cut away to the other storyline. In fact I started skipping those paragraphs all together in order to get back to the romance. This is the first time I've ever read a Radclyffe book and skipped entire chapters. If you've read earlier books by Rad then you know the romance was drawn out, teased to the reader over several different scenarios to the point you felt you knew the characters and FELT their feelings for each other. Unfortunately her latest books don't do this any longer, this one included. Maybe there was too much medical info given during Olivia and Jay's scenes. Or possibly the distracting way it cut over to the Justice characters but the build up wasn't there.Radclyffe is still a better lesbian romance author than 80% of those out there. Her latest books don't change that fact. But instead of pre-ordering every book she writes I'm now reading samples and waiting for reviews by others before buying. If this is the first book you've read by Radclyffe go buy her earlier published works. You will fall in love with those ones.

Not a read over, too many cut overs.
I love Radclyffe’s work, but this book has put me in two minds. She has written cross overs before but the timeline on this one is lacking.I have read the Justice Series, I have read Trauma Alert but trying to fit this book into where they both left off is not adding up for me.The character lack something, you got more from Dell, Sandy, Ali and Rebecca. Sometimes I had to stop myself from thinking I was reading another in the Justice Series, just too many cut overs.I am hoping Radclyffe goes back to what she does best for her next book, building the characters, taking you on a journey, a book that you want to read over and over.

Slow and morbid
One of those dime a dozen Radclyffes that simply don't take off. Plus the setting was a bit too morbid for my liking - sure, romance can be found everywhere, but I had a hard time imagining sharing hot glances in a morgue over an autopsy.

Eh
Great fan of this author and was waiting for this book to come out with great anticipation as love the medical/first responders concept. I guess it felt more like a Justice sequel (not my favorite series by Radclyffe) than its own stand alone. Do not think the relationship between the main characters was developed enough and ended up sort of forced.

Bold and exciting
Raddclyffe doesn't disappoint in this fast moving and memorable book. She takes you through an interesting path of medical and forensic knowledge in a way that makes you feel like you are in the scene. The only thing that disappoints is that the book ends too soon. I would have enjoyed reading the final outcome of the case. Other than that, great reading!

Horrible. You don't want this book.
This book was horrible. First of all, the synopsis is misleading. It's a mashup book, not a stand alone story. Sometimes that's good because you get to see what happened to some of your favorite characters. It doesn't help that these are characters from some of her suckier novels. They're like D list characters. Second, the story they sell you in the synopsis about ME's falling in love is rushed because of all the other crap having to do with all the other characters and the crime stuff (and it's not even really interesting crime stuff). The love story isn't even close to organic. It's not even a good formulaic love story we've all come to expect from lesbian romance stories. It's just: You're hot. You are too. I can't be with you because of some past instance of marriage and not even because I'm actually your boss. Love me anyway. Sure, why not? And the topper is that they spend all this time on the crime stuff, but there is no resolution at the end. Please god, tell me she's not gonna churn out a sequel. Radclyffe should be ashamed of writing this book and even more ashamed that they're selling it for 9.99. I mean really Radclyffe, we know you don't write profound works of art that will change the way we see the world or win you anything but a lambda (which seems to be handed out like candy), but usually we can depend on you for a solid little romance to pass the time, escape from everyday life, and maybe have a hot sex scene or two. Wtf? I had been looking forward to another first responder novel for a while. So disappointing.

She has written much better, it feels like she is just pumping out the same storyline and no longer putting forth the effort to make it different from the other ones.

Mmmmm
I love that Radclyffe brought the gang justice series in this. I really like the characters of Jay and Olivia. But I wish it was just their story. I feel like I didn't really get much of a storyline with them. Just a little background and wham they are a couple.

Not a romance just part of the Justice Series
I'm sorry the book is good but not great, first of all nowhere in the description it said this book is part of the Justice Series, it's described as a romance between two doctors Jay and Olivia, and sadly it's 90% Justice Series, 5% sex with Jay and Liv, 3% old characters from other books and maybe 2% romance between the main characters. I don't know why we keep seeing the "hi" and automatic love that I have never felt before happens. I would like some chemistry, interactions and more actual falling in love, instead than falling in lust. I'm sorry I was expecting a great romance from an awesome author and I got another "to be continued" great action crime novel from a great author.
