Thumbs Up Grip for Digital Cameras,Black

Doesn’t quite do it....
I bought this for a Fuji X100f. It sort of fits - as shown in another reviewers photos - but what it doesn’t do ( and i realise now you can see if you look closely at those photos) is fit flush to the camera body and more importantly, and contrary to the product description, neither does it allow easy access to the rear control wheel - you need to take your thumb off the grip to reach it. Now these may seem minor quibbles but the whole point of a grip like this is to aid handling (OK and to look stylish...!). The thumb grip is really too short for this camera. For £5 I feel I can’t really complain; after all if I had bought say a new Leica CL - sort of equivalent to the X100 - then to buy its thumbgrip - beautifully made in brass mind, and a perfect fit - costs c£150......there is a bespoke thumb grip for the X100f available from Lensman in the US but you’re still looking at over £50.So while i can’t really complain at a price of £5, on balance I’ll do without this thumb grip as it doesn’t really serve it’s claimed purpose. Now on another camera it might work better but it does leave me to realise that it’s pot luck to expect a general thumb grip to fit a particular camera model perfectly. What would really be nice is a bespoke thumb grip at a reasonable price (maybe £20?)

Reasonably good
This is quite a mediocre item when used with the Fuji X100. It's not quite long enough to cover the exposure compensation dial, which is easily accidentally changed. It does give a more secure and steadier grip on the camera, and makes it a lot easier to shoot one handed. I'm reluctant to tighten the Allen screw to fiercely, in case it pulls the hot shoe apart. The best examples of these thumb grips I have found are also the cheapest. Two for a pound (either here or Ebay, I can't remember), and they are sort of frosted clear plastic. They look nice because of their no compromise cheapness, and they are the perfect fit on an X100 :-)

May not fit
Fits very few of my camera hot or cold shoes and crucially no use on a Konica IIIa. The tightening mechanism is crude looking and I’d not expect it to last.

Seriously? For this price, you can't not try it!
I bought this to use with a Fujifilm X100s. I love the difference it makes to the handling of this tiny camera. With the thumb-rest in place I can take one-handed shots with ease, it's also nicer to carry as the rest affords grip that wasn't previously there (works great with a wrist-strap).The grip fits securely and there is no movement when it's in place. It puts the thumb position in line with the shutter-speed dial. I have not noticed any interference with any controls but your mileage may vary, depending on how you use the camera. The black perfectly matches the black-bodied X100s.My intention was to try this before I splashed out on the much more expensive Match Technical EP-5. Now I don't think I'll bother as this cheapo version suits me perfectly.I recommend it.

Thumbs Up
Some of the best aids are often the simplest and cheapest. My camera is difficult to pick up and hold without putting fingers where you don't want them, on the screen or touching buttons etc. this is a big help with this. It does occupy the flashgun slot so cannot be used with that on the camera. Surprisingly it does not seem to stick out much and prod into you when wearing the camera round the neck. Used all the time.

A very useful extra for the owners of most X series rangefinder type cameras.. provides a firm grip and makes the camera feel steady in the hand. A very good purchase and speedy delivery.

Big hands small camera this helps
This is a product I brought for my x100t as somewhere to place my thumb so I would push any buttons by mistake. For somebody with larger hands this product is great as the camera doesn't give massive confidence like my canon 5d in terms of a grip but as I have smaller hands its not something it really think i need, even though i still do use it.
