expensive but impressive….design flaw not a deal breaker
It was expensive but is high quality. quality finish. very sturdy when locked but easy to use. opens and closes well. Cant take the key out when unlocked…so there were times we basically relocked it while open to use the keys and just shut the lid almost all the way. Surely this is a safety feature but sub-optimal….not exactly even annoying. Also this has 2 grooves on the bottom in both the width-wise and length-wise directions that fit a truck rail perfectly and….you CANT USE THEM! 💁 with the provided hardware anyway. You have to mount it on rails on the far side of the grooves because otherwise the internal part wont fit…the internal part is basically flat and so you have to mount it where it is flat…all you would have to do is have an internal metal piece that fits over the humps that correspond with the indents on the bottom and it would fit just fine and look better and be like 3 inches lower on the rail. Not sure why they decided to not do that💁…it is like someone designed the box and did a great job and then someone else designed the internal mount and that is great too but then they put them together and were like, “crap…this doesnt fit. oh well…cut some grooves in the bottom of the box and we’ll pretend like this is what it was supposed to be and we will provide some weather stripping for the grooves to fix that too.” 🫨🙄🤦♂️Anyway…it is very sturdy and simple and fairly spacious…I like that I could use the boxy space vs weirdly shaped narrow or flat shapes of other car carriers.

Fits lots of gear
I bought this to carry my extra gear and was delighted to find that my 17” Blackstone grill fits neatly inside. The box is made of reinforced materials with sturdy hinges that hold the lid open.

Not Car Wash Compatible
It's medium build quality but works well. Warning - you can't take your truck through the car wash according to the manual. Check with local car wash and they said absolutely no.

Perfect
Installed our DeepSpace on bed racks, purchased zippered storage bags as our “luggage” that fit in the space perfectly! It has a lock to secure your belongings when you are traveling. Highly recommend this storage system.

Does what it should but should be cheaper.
It does add a good amount of space no doubt and is one of the best built Yakima boxes I have had, the hinges are much better than standard Yakima box hinges and the shell itself seems a lot more sturdier than others I have had as well.Reading that you'd think why do I think it should be cheaper then right? Well here's why. This is literally the Yakima EXO box, just without the EXO rail system installed in the two indented sections, and that's my point. This is literally the same exact box without the EXO hardware and just some slits carved out of the box to attach it to cross bars. On top of that the indentations for this box are a hindrance because they are not needed and just take away space. The box doesn't have a flat surface inside because of this. I see why they are needed for the EXO hookup as they are the spots for the EXO rails, but for the DeepSpace 10 they serve zero purpose. So instead of using a different base for the Deepspace they just as cheaply as possible modified the EXO box and want the same amount of $ for it which is ridiculous because this comes with waaay less hardware than an EXO has and needs. Also when it's up on crossbars it looks like you have it hooked up wrong because it obviously wasn't designed originally to sit on Crossbars. That is why I refused to buy one of these until I found one on marketplace cheaper, and I did. Got mine for more than half off. If you are going to pay full price for one of these I suggest going with the EXO system instead, the system for which this box was actually designed for.

YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THE RETURN
You have to pay for the return and when I brought you to FedEx, it's $564.37 for the return in the same box. Make sure you are buying the right. This looks exactly like the EXO Gear locker and they specify this in the product description as this can easily be the other one. The only difference is the lock underneath, so how the heck are we going to know in the pictures?
