this was definitely the best performance for the cost
Johnson hardware is very high quality, made in USA components. After looking at many folding door options, this was definitely the best performance for the cost. Higher end industrial hardware was super expensive, and I didn't need that much weight anyway. For my application, with bifolding screen doors on my patio, this was perfect.Installation is not too bad. The hardest part was the bottom pivot, if you are installing onto a slab. You'll need to buy some masonry bolts and have a hammer drill and masonry bit. I used the smallest tapcons, but in hindsight, wish I would have used the bigger size and just drilled out the pivot hardware piece to accept them. I snapped a couple of the small tapcons and drilling those little holes was difficult.I asked them about splicing tracks and they told me it wasn't recommended, but I spliced them anyway and it has worked fine. I also asked them about outdoor applications, and they said their hardware was not corrosion resistant, so I sprayed it all with Corrosion X HD and it had held up great.I used different hinges, as I didn't like the look of these. I also purchased an Extra roller Johnson Sliding Door/Pocket Door Hanger Ball Bearing since I had an extra set of doors on one side of my project.

HEAVY DUTY
Worked great for homemade heavy doors. Way better quality than most bi-fold door hardware.

Heavy duty hardware for heavy doors.
I used to this replace one of those home store cheapo bi-fold door tracks. I had two closets that broke so many times I wasn't going to try to repair them again. They have very heavy solid wood doors, so I knew I had to get something heavy duty, so I gave this a shot. The instructions are just ok. It's unclear which screws should be used where, as they often aren't specified, and there don't appear to be enough large screws for the hardware that has large screw holes. But I made do with a few screws from my workshop. The hardware itself is very heavy duty, mostly metal. There are some plastic bits, but they are heavy duty nylon. Installation was a bit of a chore, mostly because I had to saw a little over an inch off of every door panel, and heavy doors are just a pain to work with. This hardware takes up quite a lot more space than the previous hardware. Also because of this, the trim around the closets will need to be adjusted to hide the hardware (a future project).I also had some issues because I couldn't mount the floor mounts the way the instructions specified because the previous door installation used small blocks to raise the hardware above the carpet, although this was a good idea, the blocks weren't large enough to mount the new hardware the specified distance away from the door frame. This wasn't really the fault of this product, but I adjusted the mount points of the other hardware to account for the fact that the floor mounts were closer to the frame. Luckily there is enough adjustment in this kit that it all worked out.Once installed, and adjusted everything works smoothly and hopefully will last for a good long time

Difficult, but WONDERFUL!
The bi-fold doors on my wife's closet had never closed correctly in 16 years. The hardware used was the normal, cheap hardware you find on most bi-fold doors & getting them adjusted properly was nearly impossible. I decided there must be a better way to hang the doors. Then I found the parts from L.E. Johnson.Installing this new system was complicated by me having to remove the cheap hardware from the doors in order to use the new parts. I had to repair some areas where holes were left & damage was done by the old parts. Also, your bi-fold doors MUST be 2 7/8" shorter than your door frame opening. I had to cut off 7/8" from the bottom of all 4 of the doors. Having hollow core doors required me to check Google for the proper method to do so. I don't have a power saw, so I cut my doors with a hand saw (it can be done). Installing these parts on new bi-fold doors would be much easier than replacing the previous hanging system. After the old hardware was removed & the doors cut down to size the installation of the new parts could begin. I agree with others that the instructions weren't written for regular people (seem to be for general contractors), but if you're careful & measure correctly, you will be able to install these parts. When you finish, you will have the absolute best operating bi-fold doors you've ever used. They glide effortlessly & hang straight. Adjustments are precise & reasonably easy. As my picture shows my doors now close perfectly. After 16 years of never being able to close the doors properly I now have perfectly functioning & great looking closet doors. My wife is thrilled with her "new" doors.I highly recommend this bi-fold door hanging system. I love my easy closing doors!
