READ THE DIRECTIONS!
I got this kit today in the mail, it is important to remember to read the directions. If you get the ones in the picture along with the blue Jacaranda seeds ( <- those ones don't require any special stratification) but the other seeds do. If you'd rather read a review than the directions..Starting in January or feb ( I did mine a bit early ) soak the seeds over 24 hours. For the Chinese elm gently squeeze excess water out. ( GENTLY)Fold them up in a paper towel, place In a zip lock bag and then into a container. Place in a cool place ( above freezing 31⁰f- 41⁰f ) like in your fridge. Two have the same duration time and one is different.Chinese Elm and Hinoki Cypress have a duration of 60 days Chinese Elm could go 30 too. ( goal is to replicate nature most germinate in spring to summer)Crepe Myrtles duration is 30 days. After words: when all the seeds have gone through their process; place your soil pucks onto a tray and use about 3/4ths cup of water per soil puck. Wait 15-20 minutes until pucks are soft and loose they should expand 4-5 times their size. Soil should be damp not dripping wet.Mix together the nutrition packet ( sea weed )And perlite into the soil and distribute evenly between the 4 pots. Leave 1/2" from top to rim.The rest is in the pictures posted.I can't wait to see if these will grow for me. The directions are precise and helpful so HANG ONTO THE BOOKLET.They packaged it beautifully came in pristine and perfect condition.Thank you to the sellers and the people who made this kit.

Missing Peat Pellets
There was a missing peat pellet, so I sent it back & requested a replacement only for that one to also come with a missing peat pellet. Sadly had to send that one back & just get a refund.

Beautifully packaged, need close attention to the instructions and plan needs
This review will be updated over time with the results of the tree growth.FIRST UPDATE (Jan 2022): Lost 1 starAlthough I followed the directions, the Blue Jacaranda, did nothing. Not a single sign of growth. I followed the directions to a T. Since at the same time I started my hydroponic plants for the winter, and these were in the same area, they got a lot of attention. All for nothing. Will try the other plants when they are ready. This is a beautifully packaged kit, with I presume is everything you will need to start a set of Bonsai trees from scratch. You get the following:**** 4 pots and saucers**** 4 peat pots for the soil**** 4 batches of seeds**** 4 wooden staked signs for putting the names in the pots****** Blue Jacaranda (no stratification)****** Chinese Elm (30 - 60 days cold stratification)****** Crepe Myrtle (30 days cold stratification optional)****** Hinoki Cypress (60 days cold stratification)**** Kemp nutrition pack for a soil boost**** Instructions**** Some white stuff that is not described anywhere in the bookNEED TO PAY ATTENTION SHARPLY TO THE INSTRUCTIONSFirst you are given a description of the 4 plants you are trying to propagate. Nicely done. 2 of the 4 require you to cold store the seeds after soaking them for a period of 30 to 60 days (Stratification). The 3rd recommends this but it is not mandatory and only one can be planted right away. The ones that require the stratification are hardier in colder climates. However the soil instructions act as if you are going to plant them all at the same time. But since you get 4 separate peat pots, you can do this as you need, just need to use only 1/4th of the kelp soil boost. The pot has a massive hole in the bottom, so I put a filter to partially block it as I imagined the soil leaching out. Instructions show a picture of putting a ¼” indent in the soil with your finger, but the jacaranda that I was planting instructions say 1” deep.I will be putting the other seeds in the fridge tomorrow and marking my digital calendar to remind me to get them out so I can plant them when they are ready. As the wait time is 30 days for some and 60 for others, imagine there is some wiggle room.PLANTED JUST ONE SO FARI can’t post (yet) the success of the seeds as the Blue Jacaranda has just been planted and it can take 10 days or more to germinate. The other 3 are at leastAs these are trees it will take a long time to match what you are seeing in the pictures. While the pictures shows mature plants in the pots you received, they mention in the instructions to repot once the plants become strong enough to withstand it. No information on how to determine that.NO INFORMATION ON REPOTTING, SHAPING AND VAGUE RECOMMENDATIONS ON FUTURE FERTILIZINGThe assumption is, the user will look up the rest of this information or maybe the company assumes people will not follow the directions and their Bonsai will not thrive. As a person who regularly does herbs via Hydroponic systems and winters a few plants, the room my plants are in, in a Western NY household has lots of grow lights. So if these plants don’t thrive, with an older adult tending them that regularly grows hydroponically they were doomed at the start.SUMMARY:This might be an interesting gift for a person very much into plants and wants to experiment with Bonsai. The instructions require a close attention to detail and would be only suitable for an older child or an adult. This person must also have access to a warm windowsill (as many of these plants will not survive below 60 degrees F at the start), or an artificial light source like grow lamps. To get trees shown in the picture looking at the trunk size, you are talking years.

Missing some stuff
Missing one peet pellet and the perlite bag. The planters look nice for the price point. We will see how well the seeds germinate

Lovely gift idea for plant lovers
Bought this as a gift for my husband for Christmas. He just planted the Jacaranda and has the other three seeds in stratification so we aren’t sure on the “ease of growth” yet but will update as we see how it goes. The pots are plastic, they look like stone, it’s not terrible but I was under the impression they were stone.
