I found the Sony OEM eyepieces on A7, A9 and A1 bodies a bit shallow to block out light. For day-long events, my upper eye socket (just below my eyebrow) would be sore from pressing the camera eyepiece into it.These extended eyepieces are a softer material and - as per the description - noticeably deeper than the OEM ones. They're shaped to "wrap around" your eye more and do a much better job at blocking external light. As a result, I'm not pulling the camera into my eye socket as hard and so no longer experience the discomfort with OEM ones for day-long event.Side effect of the deeper eyepiece is that is slightly blocks the tilting LCD screen (A9 and A1) when shooting low angle. So I now need to make a tiny extra effort to also pull the screen away from the body, which wasn't the case with the OEM eyepiece.If you never/rarely use the EVF, this eyepiece isn't necessary. But for EVF shooters, highly recommended.

I find these deeper eye pieces essential - the resolution of the EVF on the A7R5 is great, this deeper eye piece allows you close the light gap between eye and eye piece and see a the image a lot clearer in the EVF.Well and comfortable, just fell even with a 20% discount, that £10.39 (November 2023) is just a bit expensive.Rating 4* based on quality vs price.

One look is all it took for me to realise I should have got one of these a year ago for my A7IV, if you shoot a lot in bright light like me with my weddings and bird photography then consider this essential it's a night and day difference, now my EVF is not only brighter but also no contaminated by all the light that used to leak around the side of the OEM eye cup.Best thing I've bought for my A7IV.

Very much better than the standard eye shield at keeping bright light out especially when the sun is bright and at one‘s back.

I had an extended cup for an older camera, so when I upgraded my system to a Sony, which has the smallest eye cup I have ever seen I knew what I needed.This is comfortable and offers a much better light blocker when using the evf.Get one you won't be disappointed

After reading through the reviews I am left wondering whether different materials are used on different camera makes and models because some of the comments could in no way be attributed to the eyepiece I have received for my A7iv. Extremely soft, pliable silicone and a very secure mechanism to hold it in place. I can't ever imagine it being dislodged. It has a premium appearance and I'm very happy that it brings my face back sufficiently from the LCD screen that I can more comfortably use my thumb to utilise the excellent touch tracking/focus features of the A7iv. A very worthwhile enhancement compared to the factory fitted version.

Ja top gewoon! Ook na een dik jaar.Geen lichtinval meer op de zoeker van de sony a7iv. Zacht en flexibel genoeg om wat harder tegenin te drukken voor een goede afdichting mocht dit nodig zijn. Véél beter dan het origineel. Stom dat zo 1 als deze al niet standaard op de camera zit zeg.
