Tram1498-B 18-Foot Black CB Base Antenna with 26 MHz to 31 MHz 5.75 dBd Gain

Purchased 2 of these base station antenna's.One for a friend an the other for myself. Very easy to set up. The tuning ring make this antenna a breeze to tune. I mounted mine on a TV antenna pole off the side of my roof about 8ft. Off the ground. Used 50ft. Of 393 coax. Mated to an old 1x4 xforce, 200amp power supply to a R&R communications comp 29. Tuned to 1.01@50.ohms on the bowl with a rig expert.. Sending about 350w rms through it an I always get my Roger's to Australia an local talking here in the 808 mini-grass. This antenna in my opinion has about the same performance as the antron99 antenna. Great 1/2 wave base antenna. Box came in bad shape. Yet the antenna was in good condition.

I bought this for 10m (ham radio) band. Since the 10m band is just slightly above the CB band, most CB antennas will work with some minor tuning. This was no exception.I liked that the fiberglass was black in color, which helps it stay kinda out of sight. The top element is a wire whip, like you would find on a mobile antenna, but too weak to stay vertical on its own, so once the antenna is tuned, you slip the top fiberglass part over it and you're done.I'm only running 100 watts, so nowhere near the full capability of this antenna. It transmits and receives very well with the base at 20' AGL.Had 80+ MPH winds last week. The antenna looked like it was going to snap at the bottom of the second section! I thought for sure it was a gonner. But nope. It survived. It does have a permanent little tweak between the bottom and second sections now, but barely. Still works just fine.I didn't care if it came with mounting hardware or not since I used my own commercial style pipe to pipe clamps to clamp it to the top of a short tower. The top of the tower tapers to a 2" pipe, so I doubt whatever it was supposed to come with would have worked anyway.I especially like how the PL-259 connector is tucked up inside the bottom piece of aluminum pipe, out of the weather. Very nice design, a lot like the VHF and UHF ham antennas.UPDATE- I bought another one of these for a different location. It also was missing the two mast brackets (part number 16 on the diagram). The u-boots that fits those brackets was there but not the brackets. I filleted the box wide open just to make sure. Nope, not there. This time I need them!! Does Tram sell these separately or something?? Be prepared to figure out how to mount this without the correct brackets if you order this antenna from Amazon.com instead of from a CB shop.

I’ve had this unit since January. It has leaked due to poor design and has now failed. I have called customer support after messaging back-and-forth with Amazon support regarding the antenna to no avail. It would seem that not only does Amazon want to avoid responsibility, the distributor that sold the antenna doesn’t want anything to do with it either.

antenna looks really nice and swr setting was easy. it worked really well for 13 days, then swr went into the red zone. I changed the coax cable hoping that would solve the issue but it didnt chane a thing. I definately don't recommend this antenna.nd

Tuned up great. Chart put me at a 1:1 SWR. Talked to So Cal on SSB first contact. Great ears.

Great antenna! Easy set up!

Antenna is great doing what it needs to do but missing hardware. Not to happy about it but a few set screws 6M and 2 hose clamps did the trick.

Box in perfect condition, 3 piece antenna wrapped up and in perfect condition. However no mounting hardware or Manual. Total waste of time.
