The wooden part was absolutely beautiful, not a single rough edge anywhere and everything looked and felt super smooth and nice. The last three times on each side were super muted which was really frustrating, as all the middle ones sounded nice. I guess that seems to be a pretty common issue on most Kalimbas and it definitely was an issue with this one. I didn’t get the sticker markers included either, had to made with Washi tape I had. Ended up returning it because the muted tones were really frustrating to deal with while trying to learn songs on it. I wish that hadn’t been an issue because it truly was a beautiful instrument, much nicer finish than the curly maple Gecko kalimba I ordered (and also returned) after this one.

This is going to be a gift for my son for Christmas, but I just had to check it out to make sure it was as nice as MY thumb piano. It may be even nicer! There's a lot of nice things included...a booklet, tuner, bag....just really nice finish on this as well! Good sound. This will be interesting, I think, for my son to learn to use. He's very musical and picked up piano and guitar without lessons, so I think this is something he might enjoy as well. I hope so, anyway! This is a very nice thumb piano!

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  I was in search of a kalimba set that would help me learn a bit better, and seeing that this set was a great price, aesthetically pleasing, and came with many accessories on the site (kalimba manual, stickers, thumb pads, tuning hammer, and a cleaning cloth, I thought it was a great deal!You will find that there are two sets of kalimbas that I have currently. The first set is the one taken on the carpeted floor. This one came in a box without a kalimba manual, the tine stickers, or a cleaning cloth, and the E6 tine was broken. I have taken a short video of what it sounds like compared to other tines. The wood is beautiful and aesthetically pleasing overall, except for a small scratch on the "Cega" wood mark. The sound was beautiful as well. However, the E6 tine was not working and I have tried to adjust it to see if any sound will come out and it's nothing but the weird sound from the video no matter what I tune it to.So, I ended up returning that one and getting an exchange for the same set because maybe I just got a weird one, which is the set photographed over the plaid handkerchief. The second one came in today in the same box like the first one, and though this time there is a cleaning cloth, the thread is running already and I hadn't even used it yet, there was again no manual, and no tine keys. The E6 tine that was my issue with the first one was fixed though, which is good! I didn't get to take any photos with this one before I fixed it, but the tines to the right of the C4 tine were all positioned slightly diagonal and almost all tines on that side had a buzz to it. I tried to reposition them to be more straight, but even then they're still a bit diagonal, which made it a bit more challenging to play.I was wanting to contact the seller personally before typing this review, but when I tried to, there was no way to do it. So, I will be posting about my experience here. I think it has potential and this kalimba has a beautiful sound, but having received an incomplete set both times I have reordered, as well as issues with both of them, I will be returning these items.I hope this was helpful to someone! This is only my experience so please refrain from generalizing all orders of this kalimba set to be like mine.

"This is a nice kalimba in my opinion!!The edges of the tines are rounded even on the sides!! So in case you do somehow touch the side of the tine, you won’t get hurt!! Not a super important detail, but it does show that this is well crafted.The wood as well is very nice and polished, and has a cute carving design in the middle of it!!The tuning hammer also helps a lot actually.This isn’t a super big detail, but the silicone thumb protectors don’t fit fat fingers like mine. They just rip apart if you try and force it.I don’t really use the stickers since the note and the number are carved into the metal tines, but it is nice to know that they’re there!!"

beautiful craftmanship. The only complaint I have is that a couple of the keys are too tight and I'm not sure how to fix it. The issue makes some of the notes fall short instead of carrying like they are supposed to, and throws off the tunes a bit. Other than that its a beautiful instrument and is so relaxing to play!

Had to do some minor tuning, but it wasn’t that much. Learning is fun, and playing it is soothing. My advice is to grow your nails a tiny bit so that your thumbs don’t get worn out.

Its just as beautiful in person and the sound was heavenly. My friend literally squeeled when I gave it to her.

At first I didn’t get a tuning hammer so I used a wine bottle opener lol the seller did fix the issue for me tho. I noticed the last to high prongs are difficult to get a ring to come out of. I wouldn’t buy this.

So impressed with the sound quality of such an inexpensive instrument. Truly impressive. Well built and with the case and tuning hammer it’s a Kalimba classic!
