Bamboo traditional water ladle to use in your Japanese tea garden. It is to be placed on a stone basin or tsukubai. Used to purify the hands upon entering a tea house. Made by hand with fine bamboo workmanship. Some use for adding water to matcha for tea ceremony. The stick goes completely thru the bowl to slow the pouring of the water to make the process mindful.

Beautifully made and performs well
Our previous bamboo HISHIKUs could not tolerate the Southern Califoria climate, and inevitably discolored, split, then disintegrated. This solid wood piece was of tea ceremony quality at a very fair price, while sufficiently hardy for outdoor use. Now smart enough, we bring it indoors when TSUKUBAI is not operating. Should it show weathering, I simply would dip it into a can of polyurethane and let it drip dry.

Excellent Ladle
Arrived a day ahead of schedule and well packed. Upon examining the ladle you can see the handle was perfectly fitted and sealed and high quality bamboo was used to make it. It holds about 1.5 oz. and will be perfect for use in a tea ceremony set. A very good quality ladle at a very good price!
