Isabella Dora Cheese Slicer - Best Stainless Steel Manual Plane

After all the reviews I was excited to get this slice. Our last one was great but finally broke after years of use. I have to say we were very disappointed in the operation of this slicer. We couldn't get it to slice well (just medium cheddar block) without the slices being abnormally thick. We ended up trying to bend it in order to get a thinner slice. And for some weird reason the cheese sticks to the top of the plane like glue so getting a smooth slice without the cheese crumpling under itself like a pushed carpet is impossible. But maybe we just got a defective product. The slicer came in a box with something else and was not in any protective wrap so it was just flying around in the package during shipping. I am thinking it got all bent out of shape or something.UPDATE:This item was replaced by the seller and so I had a chance to try it again. I can say that the new slicer does work. The original slicer was most certainly damaged in shipping. With that said, I would not consider the slicer to be as good as the one we got locally after we had such issues with the original slicer. While the new slicer does create nice slices, they are on the thick side and we have found it a bit difficult to try to get thinner slices. The positives are that it is made of all metal and we like that aspect so we will use it for perhaps cheese plates and grilled cheese sandwiches for the kids but for everyday thin slices for sandwiches we will stick with the one purchased locally as it produces very nice thin slices and has a non-smooth face so the cheese does not stick to it as it is being sliced.

The seller is excellent. The cheese slicer is adequate but not great. We are Dutch and we were replacing a slicer that got daily use for over forty years. This one, though well made, does not cut full slices off the cheese loaf unless you really concentrate - go slowly with even pressure. This could be an issue with the sharpness plus the relatively flat angle of the cutter and front. It is made for hard cheeses, that is what we use it for - either for extra long aged Gouda or extra sharp cheddar.

While it seems to be built nicely, the slice it cuts is too thick. I'm going to try to "adjust" it to slice thinner because I'd really prefer more like a shave than a slice. The farmer cheese I got it for wants to grab it. It might work better on a hard cheese instead of a softer cheese. It's a nice slicer -- just not for what I needed it.

Very grateful for having discovered this great cheese slicer. I have broken many of the slicers with a wire for the cutter; in the past.Thank you very much for making this available.

Was so excited to get this after reading the reviews (and after my previous - and much loved - cheese slicer handle broke) ... but ... I am disappointed. I have kids and we keep a block of hard cheddar around for quick snacks - was hoping this slicer could slide (pun intended) to our snack routine but, no. It needs A LOT of pressure to begin (which says to me it's not sharp) and then you need to keep the pressure really tight --- BUT! release close the end or you may cut a finger off! And then ... the slices are too thick. I tried to angle it at a 'thinner' approach but that didn't work.Product looks and feels nice, but does not perform. I'll be looking for another cheese slicer.

I like this because it can go into the dishwasher. Cuts nicely. Wish it could cut thinner slices. Nice product.

It may be steel but it isn't very sturdy.You have to apply a bit of pressure to cut your cheese the way you want and it bent the very first time I used it.It might work on soft cheese but no way on the harder variety.The neck should be solid as hell but it is thin.Their is a lifetime guarantee but if they just send another one with a thin neck,what is the point?The wire ones break and these bend,does no one make long lasting cheese slicers?Next I'll be trying cheese knives and if that doesn't work,it will be a hammer and chisel from the hardware section.

I was very pleased with my new cheese slicer. So much so that I originally bought it for my son because he loved the one I have had for years and wanted exactly like it. But the new one was easier to handle so I just gave him the old one
