I tested this product only twice and both times when the baton released it got stuck and I was unable distance to collapse it again. I will be buying another baton but I will not be purchasing this one or other products from these people again.

This is just what we were looking for. Good price, quality and fits in the gray area of thr law where we live. Its for self defense on walks and protection from any stray or wild animals. DOES NOT come with instructions.. IF YOU HAVE NEVER OWNED OR SEEN ONE OF THESE USED YOU NEED TO USE FORCE. The point of this tool is self defense. It takes a quick flick of the wrist and arm to extend it. Extend in one swift motion. It is rigid and used for a scare tactic (hopefully that is all) but keeping things at a distance, and if worst comes to it, brute force or swinging motion. It is intended to NOT collapse easily aka in someone's ribs. The other reviews talk about it being difficult to close. That is the intended purpose. It closes flawlessly. TO CLOSE: you need solid ground or floor surface. You take the small ended tip and SLAM it into the ground. It will collapse back in. It needs the quick blunt force to release. Quick and hard to open, quick and hard to close. Hopefully you wont ever have to use this but it will be a great thing to have just in case!! Def recommending to all of the women in my life

This collapsible tool will help you ward off people or animals with the weight of its heavy metal bar. It collapses into a size with a pouch that you can attach to your belt for ease of access. It takes some persuasive tapping to get the bar to extend or retract into itself. It’s functional and gets easier with practice to extend and retract the bar.
