Magically started working w/Alexa for a day and now back to never work w/Alexa - AVOID
2019-05-10+ Left in place for a couple weeks and eventually never worked with Alexa. Still works flawlessly with just using phone app so if you want only the ability to use with your phone these are nice. I needed Alexa, they both went back. I'm going to add a star to two stars cause the non-Alexa experience is quite good.2019-04-26:And they stopped working again.....this is futile. Nothing has changed, 4 devices in list, the others work great, the iHapers worked for about 2 days and now they don't again. AVOID.2019-04-25:A couple days ago I asked Alexa to turn the lights on and I walked towards the iHaper bulbs to turn them on by hand. Before I got to them, Alexa/Echo turned them on. Looks like iHaper finally fixed the skill which was the weak link in the chain. As of today these work with Alexa nicely. I changed nothing. I was just too lazy to have gotten around to taking them down and finding the boxes to ship them back. Bumping stars up a little. BUY.2019-04-19:After support from iHaper has repeatedly reached out and sent videos of how to do firmware updates. I went out of my way today to do firmware updates on two of these I have. It fixed nothing. I'll add the software to do the updates indicates it works then says it hasn't. The firmware udpates is in the user section of the app rather than the detail for the light though it does display the firmware version in the light detail but you can't click it....blah blah....this is not a good situation. I will again state that if you don't to use it with the cloud but just use the app to turn lights on and off, that functionality works great. If you want to use the skill and Alexa/Echo, it is a complete waste of time. AVOID.2019-04-14:Alexa quit working quickly and I can't get to to work again. Still setup and works with iHaper app. I bought a second one due to my initial experience with the first and it setup just as easily. Goes through full process and is recognized by Alexa but can't turn it on and off. You can hear Alexa honk when it fails to get response from the iHaper socket. And the socket works great with the app so we can talk to it over wifi happily. With Alexa ? forget it.So I go to some support to the iHaper website. The support section is not in English. Looks like they are both going back. AVOID.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I bought this to replace another brand which died after about 1.5 years. Decided to pay a little more in the hope of getting something a little better quality cause almost every smart light, plug, socket, etc. I've used are a PITA. This one came out of the box suffering from Apple over packaging. I'd prefer cheaper product out of a brown box. Otherwise, everything, almost everything about this as smooth. Setup using QR code was nice. Had it working with their app in less than two minutes. Added an account with them, turned on cloud functionality, added the iHaper skill for Alexa, added it to my regular groups that the bulb I'm replacing came from and away we go. It has a button and better than average app for turning on and off if you don't want to use Alexa. This is by far the best smart device setup I've had. Smooth. My one nit to pick is the stupid app can't handle special characters and the errors generated cause it can't handle anything but letters and numbers for a password are useless. I'm used to this as I'd guess half vendors struggle with secure passwords. BUY.

HomeKit star for a reasonable price.
Worked right out of the box. Integrated fast and perfectly with HomeKit, no hiccups. I’ve use them for about a month. They stay connected very well to HomeKit. I did have one of the two I purchased disconnect twice in 2 days. To fix I simply switched the lamp off (removing power from the device) and switched it back on. When disconnected from WiFi the device flashed a blue indicator light, which, if your sleeping can be annoying, but nice to know there’s a problem. Overall very happy. Much cheaper than alternatives but without the frills.

5-star Amazing for Apple Homekit!! (Edited)
I bought 5 of these adapters as I was looking for an affordable Smart Home starter kit that may work with my Apple Tv and Siri, and I found iHaper adapters. They WORK GREAT with HomeKit, no problems at all. With Alexa though, it have connectivity problems sometimes, but they still work with my iPhone even when they’re not responding to Alexa.5-stars for sure!Edit: I put it down to 4-stars since one of my adapters is working intermittently. It responds on and off even with the iPhone, it’s only one of the five so I will contact iHaper and see if they can replace it for me.Edit 2: 5 Stars again! The iHaper customer service is excellent. They will help me with the one adapter that was not working properly. I will DEFINITELY buy more products from them!

More Understandable Directions to Using iHap Smart Bulb
To all the customers who bought this an is struggling to activate it, here are a few steps to do it faster and easier.1st you have to connect it to a power source, then attach the light bulb.2nd you have to open your iPhone settings and connect it to Bluetooth, yes it will work while you aren't home.3rd you have to scan the QR code provided with the home kit app that is built into your iPhone. Wait for a few seconds.4th you can customize the controls, and all done.Although I struggled, the instructions that were provided weren't that easy to follow due to not being compatible.

Poorly thought out app- or poorly written instructions
Initially the unit booted/ was acknowledged and appeared in the ap.But the “test” light button did noddaWORSETHE ON OFF SCHEDULING HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH TIME OF DAY-I rebooted- went through the ap instructions...For me this was not plug and playI promptly returned themDoes Amazon have a “before we sell it we test it division”?In my opinionNo, evidently not! This device would not have made the cut.

Easy setup and trouble free operation
I added this to a lamp I have over a work area. Unfortunately the ideal angle of the lamp for the work area puts it in a orientation that shines into my eyes when I’m in front of my computer. I’ve enjoyed rather than having to get up and turn off the lamp when I hop over to check email or whatever, instead issuing a quick voice command to turn it off.Setup was as easy as scanning a QR code. I’d happily purchase again for any similar needs.

So inconsistent with HomeKit, non-functioning with Alexa
I wanted this to work so badly, but about once a day I have to unscrew it and screw it back into the socket for it to reconnect with HomeKit. And despite there being an Alexa skill, I have never once gotten this to connect to Alexa. There doesn't seem to be active support for this.Update: Continues to be a terrible product. Just awful.2nd Update: Continues to be a wretched product. Neither works with HomeKit nor Alexa.

Alexa, turn on my living room lamp.
It works like a charm! When the puppy has to pee in the middle of the night, it’s easiest to tell Alexa or Siri to turn on the light while carrying the puppy and sliding on my shoes. I intend to get more.Only issue I’ve had is 2 signal drops, which I turn the bulb off and back on manually, and it reconnects in seconds.
